FAVORITE HOSTA - FRANCES WILLIAMS

there are many beautiful hostas, but frances williams is the most dramatic! this shot followed our big rain...the leaves are so hydrophobic - will you look at this surface tension! this comfy droplet is lentil-sized. frances williams reveals her colors and textures!

I love the colors of those leaves! A German blog friend sent me seeds of Frances William but unfortunately they didn't germinate. I wonder if they need to be chilled.

What great closeups of 'Frances.' I don't have that particular variety of hosta, but I love her colors. You take such fine photos.~~Dee

My favourite Hosta too, because of the irresistable colour contrast of the variegated leaves, the way the flowers appear white from a distance, but are washed with lavender-silver on close inspection. This (like the vast majority of variegated plants) would not come true from seed, but I dare say that if the seed was viable, the daughter plants would still be very beautiful. Luckily, Frances Williams is widely available.
