BLOOMING INFERNO

record heat and drought do not dissuade the crepe myrtle...
taken from the 2nd floor deck...

and the side of the house

hub's rock wall is progressing beautifully...

arisaema cosanguinium blooms demurely...

one has to experience the profusion of bloom in the potager - this photo does not do it justice.  we don't have ripe tomatoes yet, perhaps next week.

this is the first year that the evergreen magnolia has bloomed non-stop.  it's a bee party down there!

the potager is awash in color...

and producing! we had the first cucumbers this week, and with all this heat we hope for a bumper crop of tomatoes.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

dill fireworks!

echinacea fireworks!

sedum sparklers!

i mulched the potager with sweet peet... we'll see if it's worth it...

this cucumber vine is about to reach out and touch someone...

i love when the potager looks full and green like this, and is producing every day for dinner...

we are building a retaining wall to replace the one that fell... hubs went and got some rocks...

and we've been letting gravity do as much as possible to get the rocks into the yard...

more to follow! hubs is outside digging a trench in 90 degree heat to prepare the foundation...
happy birthday to our swell country!
