The bee is in the family Halictidae. It's a big family of common bees, but the bees are much smaller than honeybees.

hi brother and nephew! thanks for identifying the bee (i had already looked it up.)marie has not seen the bee because she lives in norway, and i think these bees can only be found in the americas.marie, thanks! the little chick was so fluffy and cute, he made me think he had to live through some cold springs!
