That red and green beauty is a Californian Firecracker Plant (Dichelostemma ida-maia)
thank you so much, stacy, for the identification! supposedly this bulb is ok to zone 5. i am zone 6b, so i hope this plant survives. the flowers last for about 2 weeks in a vase! spectacular!
