ICE ORNAMENTS

a photo of my harry lauder walking stick decorated with 1.5" blue ornaments is in the previous post.  here is a close up of one ball with a reflected landscape:
we had quite a bit of rain, and some of the balls filled with water.  then it froze hard, causing some of the ornaments to crack and the glass to fall away, leaving ice ornaments:
here is a self portrait in cracked glass...

I love the idea of decorating the walking stick. The frozen ornament is a wonderful accident. Although I'm sure you did not plan to lose the blue ornaments, the frozen ball is spectacular!

Great shots, especially the ice ball, very unusual.

Thanks to all of you for the comments! I've never gotten so many comments on one post before!

I did think that the ornaments would not survive winter, because the steel parts will rust, and eventually we'll get a big nor'easter and they'll blow off. However, last month i became obsessed with decorating this tree, and found these balls for not so much money.

next year i'd like bigger ornaments of some kind, maybe in plastic. i haven't found any i like, though!

thanks again to you lovely people for all the comments!

What a great idea to decorate the walking stick tree! Love the color of the balls. Too bad some of them broke, but what great photos you got! That's a neat self portrait shot :)
