ReplyDeleteyour square garden is just wonderful.. I love all the layers and shapes ad things gong on there...a beautiful composition for sure!
Now my ignorance comes in... the peony is perrenial in your garden?
I was trying to imagine which of these things return this time each year and which are new plantings. You garden was under snow and ice all winter...what remains from last year through al that?
Bulbs you must have replanted...when?
The climate here is so different and the southern hemisphere thing makes it hard to keep track of your garden's growing cycles.
Its looking magnificent...of that I AM sure!
Hope you're getting back into the groove ... and have shaken off that lingering unwellness Em!
Have a really good week!

Em, your flowers are so lovely, and I don't have a one of the same! Never heard of species hosta, are they miniatures? May is fabulous, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteReally great photos!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the dose of spring. It's greatly appreciated on a very rainy day as we head into winter here on the other side of the world.
ReplyDeletesophie, thanks for the great comments! yes, most all of the flowers in the square garden are perennials, as are the peonies. i plant very few annuals, as it just gets too expensive! the annual plants in there re-seed themselves and volunteer, like the false chamomile. here we plant spring blooming bulbs like the tulips in the fall, and they will likely overwinter too. i am feeling better, too, thanks!
ReplyDeletems robin, my bad, i went back and checked and that hosta is a tiny, white variegated one right next to a species hosta. sorry for my befuddlement. i'll check out your garden to see what i'm missing in mine! thanks for the comment!
gloria, thanks!
Connie, thanks to you too!
susan, thanks, i understand completely! i'll need to go to tropical blogs (or the tropics itself) for my does next winter!
