my husband got home earlier than i did today and caught these deer lounging in our yard. there were two males and a female. when i got home i let my brave poodle out, and he chased them away. this doe is under the bald cypress near the cercis forest pansy. "hey, babe, i'm gonna try to score a latte from these nice people to go with these exotic hostas. i just love gf's garden!"
my neighbor bought me a deer repellent spray that she says works for now. i'll try it tomorrow. and, no, we didn't serve lattes to the deer.

scheherazade, an indestructible lily.... this one is 7 feet tall, growing near my espaliered dwarf apple tree. this arisaema is near the street in the woodland garden, and its odd, drooping leaflets stop traffic. the green bloom is not too impressive.
i'm traveling this weekend, so the next new post will likely be on monday.

tuck and luna. tuck is visiting for a week. ok, tree lovers, here is my japanese stewartia,
and a detail of same.
here are some of the trees i bought yesterday, when my sister, brother and our mates went to broken arrow nursery in hamden, ct. below is magnolia leonard messel.
katsura tree. why did i buy this? i've scarcely the room. ok, tree addiction.
birch royal frost, which has burgundy leaves. it's hard to see in a picture.
