our deer look like this to me: next they will be asking for a decaf latte to go with those pansies. now the deer are coming into the back yard more often and decimating the phlox, clematis, anenmone, lillies, hostas, etc. sigh. pehaps i should leave the dogs out all night to chase the deer.

this daylily escaped the deer fencing and bloomed. daylilies are the deer's favorite food, so i fence them in.this primrose (tie dye) is 3 years old and finally bloomed. primroses are usually spring bloomers.

here's an insect, almost 1.5" long, found in my garden today. my brother says it's an eyed elater, a giant click beetle, the largest click beetle in north and south america! (this was scanned on a piece of birch bark.)
