WHITE POST

rats! my daughter has 2 new 'dumbo' rats, tanzy and maria. this is maria... these rats are astonishingly friendly.
brugmansia 'cypress gardens' continues to amaze with over 20 flowers when i took this photoosteosperamumbatwing begonia 'maculata var. wightii' looks so happy this summer - i love the spots!

PURPLE PATCH DENIZENS

near the south fence is a purple butterfly bush and a mess of verbena bonariensis. lulled by the afternoon sun and nectar of bright purple flowers, the local fauna is ready for its close-up...
tiger swallowtail...a faded admiral...
bee...
golden skipper...
green-striped spider...

SMALL THINGS

the underside of a drop of water on a caladium leafa feather i found in the grass
drooping hydrangea flowers remind me of an amusement park ride

SKIPPER, SPIDER

folded wing skipper (these hardly hold still for a moment!) on butterfly bush, a spawn of 'ellen's blue'
maybe my brother or nephew can help me identify this tiny spider, with its intricate, cup-shaped web

SHADES OF GREEN

brugmansia 'cypress gardens' with mature and immature flowers... the tropical fragrance is overwhelming in the eveningallium contrasted with immature flowers of sedum 'autumn joy'
